Comedy is a creative art. We are born out of creativity. I believe it’s our destiny and duty to demonstrate our individual creativity. The act of being creative is one of the many reasons that comedy is such a wonderful activity for both the comic and the audience. We are born to be creative. Unfortunately, society stifles our creativity. From the time we are infants we are told no, stop that, and to not do things that are out of the norm. Our schools teach us to fit in and be like our older siblings and to model what is perceived as how society expects us to act.
When we write and deliver a joke our creative juices have an opportunity to thrive. It gives us an opportunity to express ourselves. By creating and delivering jokes we go back to our true creative nature. Creativity is the key to comedy, and creativity is the key for us to fulfill our potential.
